Say it isn’t so! The Southern California Indian Center’s 41st annual Summer Pow Wow has been canceled according to the LA Times. Read the article here. According to Paul Starr, the center’s Executive Director, there was a “huge decline in sponsorships and donations.” Apparently, the L.A. Department of Cultural Affairs backed out as did another major sponsor.
The Pow Wow was scheduled for July 31st through August 2nd. The center said it will hold a smaller Pow Wow at Garden Grove High School on August 1st.

So, it seems the recession (depression) has taken another victim. Here’s hoping the Pow Wow is still a success and next year there are plenty of sponsors!
